The best entrepreneurs (and leaders) see clearly

I have a game that I made up for a client yesterday.

He was a bit frustrated with a couple of underperforming relationships.

I asked him to take each relationship and label, first, all of the “shoulds” that were in his mind, or what he guessed for the other person as well.

Then, I asked him to look at the way things are, now.

And finally, I asked him what he actually wanted.

This revealed the source of frustration under the surface, and enabled him to focus on creative ways to drop the shoulds, meet the person where they are, and find innovative ways to communicate what he wants in alignment with what the other person wants.
